Fall is upon us. This means we’re about to experience cooler weather, cold and flu season, and the perfect time to stay indoors and get cozy. It’s important that we don’t put our wellness on pause this fall season. Keeping up on our exercise routines, eating healthy, and resting is key to maintaining a healthy immune system. Due to current safety guidelines for the state of Michigan, we are doing all we can to keep you safe and abide by proper social distancing and safety requirements. Unfortunately, our big annual event isn't in the cards for us this year, BUT we still want to give our members something to look forward to an opportunity to discover modern beauty and wellness safely at Urban You as well as the comfort of your homes.

Wake up at the same time every morning 

As the sun goes down earlier, it can throw off your natural circadian rhythm. Try to maintain a sleep schedule of at least seven hours or more. It’s so important to keep your bedtime and wake up time consistent all year long!

Get enough vitamin D

This essential vitamin helps the body absorb calcium. When fall arrives, daylight — a big source of vitamin D — isn’t as present. That’s why it’s important to either take a supplement or implement it into your diet in order to maintain appropriate vitamin D levels through fall and winter. Salmon, tuna, and milk are a few foods packed with vitamin D. 

Consume immunity-boosting foods

As the weather gets colder and flu season starts, it’s important for your immune system to be in good shape. Eating healthy foods with vitamin C (like limes, oranges, and clementines) are key to fighting off infections! Garlic, ginger, spinach, and almonds are also key when it comes to boosting your health and immunity.

Stay Hydrated 

Colder weather means that our bodies can lose as much fluid as it might in warmer weather due to the high rates of energy that we use in the cold. Wearing heavier clothing means you’ll sweat more. Maintaining your water intake will also keep your skin supple, which can be a problem as the weather gets drier.

Switch up your fitness routines 

If you live in colder areas, you’ll probably have to give up your outdoor runs soon! Make it less of a shock to your body by taking some of your routines indoors and slowly incorporating indoor gym sessions. Try a new class like kickboxing or cycling to get your cardio fix.
